Keeping a low overhead, vol. 1
Posted on June 8th, 2009 No commentsHave you found yourself cutting back a little too much lately?
That’s one thing that most of us have in common lately. If you’ve been fortunate enough to not be hurt by the economic crisis, you’re certainly more aware. But this has been a great learning experience in keeping the unavoidable costs of living down, and still getting by with style.

Pay the HookUP Forward!
Posted on April 14th, 2009 No commentsI’m writing my own press release for anyone who cares. Here goes:
For immediate release:
April 14, 2009
HookUP Feed is pleased to announce the addition of the “VOLUNTEER” category to its website.
HookUP Feed, a leader in online/mobile coupons (I’d hardly consider us leaders yet, but why not state what you want to be?), just changed the coupon game by giving it’s users the ability to hookUP others by lending a hand. So in addition to using HookUP Feed to GET deals on cool stuff you really want, users will now be able to GIVE back as well.
“In these tough times, people unfortunately can’t give financially the way they would like to or were accustomed to,” says Evan Lowenstein (that’s me), “it’s our hope that we’ll be able to bring some extra help to organizations by way of volunteering.”
The first official volunteer opportunity comes by way of Project Sunshine, a nonprofit organization that provides free educational, recreational, and social programs to children and families living with medical challenges. In honor of National Volunteer Week (April 19-25), Project Sunshine is inviting volunteers to assemble craft kits (individualized arts & crafts projects) and surgi dolls (medical play dolls) to be given to hospitalized children. The actual event will be taking place in New York City on 4/22 from 6-8pm. For more information check out www.hookupfeed.com and click on the “Volunteer” category (duh).
“If you’re an organization looking for a few extra hands for various volunteering opportunities, please get in touch with us,” offers Dave Liniado (my partner). For the record, he didn’t actually say that but since I liked the other quote better (more intelligent/less desperate sounding) I took it for myself and gave him this one.
Quick review of Press Release 101: State point. Give dumb quote or two detailing point. Get the hell out.
Check. Check plus. Check.
